Hitting the ground running

My first project at The LEGO Group was working in the LEGO Super Mario core design team discovering new play opportunities in the first and second year of their flagship product release.

I helped conceptualised, design and  rapidly prototype play experiences that could be tested with kids to refine the overall play experience.

I collaborated with other Play Designers, Model Designers, Product Managers, Pixel Artists and Engineers to refine the core play of the LEGO Super Mario experience.

Power-up Costumes

One of my main tasks while on the LEGO Super Mario team was to design and prototype interaction loops for Marios Costumes.

This involved creating prototypes for the Cat Costume and Fire Costume Powerup Digital Interactions confining by the tight restraints of the developed software/hardware system.

Second Year Release

I helped the Year 2 LEGO Super Mario team explore co-op play with the release of the Luigi Starter Set.

This play exploration brought a new element of social play into the LEGO Super Mario World. Our objective was to find compelling multiplayer social play expereinces that built on the play-loops that were already established in the first year release of LEGO Super Mario.
